double page spread lanuage
I read an interview from a double spread of Q to get an idea of the language they use. However their target audience is slightly older than mine, they look to target people in their 30's and 40's. This will be suitable for the older end of my target audience. The language that they use contain swearing which reminds us that they are targeting older people, whereas I have used "*" to hide any swearing my article so that it will be also be suitable for the younger end of my age range. The questions that they ask are not always simple for example " you were much more politicised as a young man, weren't you?" the questions that i have used a a lot more simple and require and easy answer so that readers will be able to follow easily and not feel they have to think to much about what the meaning behind the question or answer might be. It is clear to me that the magazine is appealing more to an older age range because it refers age a lot, for example "what are you planning for your 50Th birthday later this month?". I have not refereed to any specific age reference on my interview so that readers feel it is appealing to all ages (specifically those in my age range). An other point that I could gather from their interview was that it did appeal a lot more to males due to the swearing and talk of male role models. I have tried to keep my interview mixed gender but I found it hard because the people I was interviewing were female. This is also true of Q magazine they were interviewing a male however they make actual references to males whereas I made no mention of gender.
The photo on the left has a very uneven background because i had to drape a black material to create a more dangerous and dark effect. I order to smooth out the background i had to cut out two girls and place them directly onto the double page which already had a black background. This makes the image look a like a professional because it gives off the effect that it has been taken in a studio. In order to make the image fit properly so i lost come of the edges of the photo.

I was going to use this image for my double page spread but i decided that an other image would be better siuted. In order for me to use this on my double page spread i would have needed to clean up the backgroud so i cut out the backgound and re-placed it with a matching colour. This makes the image look a lot more like it has been taken in a studio.

The image on the left is my origanal image and the on the right is the image cut from my finished front cover. I didnt need to make many changes to the image as it already fits in with the theme of my magazine, however i did need to crop the photo a little bit to make it the right shape to fit the collunms. I then covered over the photo with the band name, i made sure that i did not cover thier faces or the microphone so the readers can still see what is happening in the photo.
